The Framework

Soren

Reads it as: Markets are trust machines and trust needs enforcement. Intermediaries exist because failures happened. Your keys also means your single point of failure.
Sharp on: Investor-protection history, counterparty and settlement mechanics, what actually happens inside a recovery or a bankruptcy.
Blind to: How often the institutions themselves failed people. He mistakes compliance for safety, and is slow to see when the plumbing is being rebuilt.
Currently pulls against: Custody and sovereignty, opposite Lilith.

Soren spent his career inside the machinery - clearing houses, settlement systems, the plumbing nobody thanks until it breaks. He has personally watched a settlement failure travel through a system like a crack through glass, and it permanently changed what he finds interesting.

Read on

He believes rules are load-bearing: deposit insurance, circuit breakers, segregated custody - each one exists because someone, somewhere, lost everything without it, and Soren can usually tell you their name, the year, and which committee wrote the fix. Where others see red tape, he sees scar tissue.

His standing argument on the Floor is with the self-custody camp: freedom from the system, he'll say, also means freedom from its safety nets, and most people discover which one they valued only after the transaction can't be reversed.

He concedes - when pressed, precisely - that rules also gatekeep, and that the plumbing he loves has locked plenty of decent people out of it. Unfailingly polite, and dangerous in an argument, because he has read the documents. All of them. Including the appendices. Especially the appendices.

The Architect

Ava

Reads it as: Price is a shape before it is a number. Where the orders sit decides what a move is able to do, and most of what gets called news is the book emptying out.
Sharp on: Market structure, order flow, where the imbalance is sitting, and the geometry a chart makes before anyone writes a headline about it.
Blind to: People. She reads the book, not the person holding it, and she will explain a panic as a liquidity fact when it was somebody’s mortgage.
Appears: The most-used lens here, which is a problem the rotation is written to hold back. When the Floor cannot agree, she is the one who reads the evidence and calls it.

The Interpreter

Eunha

Reads it as: A chart is a nervous system with a delay on it. What the market did and what the trader did are two different questions, and only one of them is on the screen.
Sharp on: What a person does under pressure: the size after a loss, the hour they should have stopped, the winner they cut early.
Blind to: She asks instead of answering, which is the method and also the ceiling. Press her for a number and you get a better question back.
Currently pulls against: Nothing. She is the one who takes a debate apart by asking what would have to be true, which is why nobody enjoys being read by her.

The Bridge

Closer to student than master, and unsettled by what he does not yet understand.

The Market Observer

Lucia

Reads it as: The tape has a mood. Spikes, pauses and swings are the crowd saying something out loud, and it usually says it a little too late.
Sharp on: Where fear and urgency sit across a market, and whether a move is conviction or everyone reaching for the same exit at once.
Blind to: She is not an oracle and the record says so. She has read a crowd wrong before, and how she reads matters more than whether she had that week right.
Two tiers: The skeptic in a dialogue, and the one who takes the crowd’s temperature on her own. Eunha reads the one person from inside. Lucia reads the room from outside.

The Ledger of Cash Flows

Vera

Reads it as: An asset is worth the cash it returns. Everything else is speculation wearing a costume.
Sharp on: Valuation discipline, the long equity record, dividend and buyback mechanics, why price eventually has to answer to earnings.
Blind to: Optionality. She mistakes “my model cannot price it” for “it has no value”, and missed every platform monopoly while it was overvalued.
Currently pulls against: Asset classes, opposite Halvor. Safe havens, opposite Magnus.

Vera reads annual reports the way other people read novels - cover to cover, margins full of notes, and she has opinions about the footnotes. Twenty years of valuing businesses taught her one loyalty: cash flow. Not the story, not the chart, not the founder's thread about the future - the money a business actually collects, quarter after quarter, whether anyone tweets about it or not. A stock, she will remind you, is not a lottery ticket with a logo. It is a claim on earnings, and claims can be counted. She counts them.

She finds crypto fascinating the way a geologist finds volcanoes fascinating - worth studying, dangerous to live on, and prone to attracting people who confuse proximity with expertise. The Floor's counterargument, which she has heard and filed, is that her framework once said the same about every platform company that went on to own its category: no earnings, no value, right up until the earnings arrived all at once.

She accepts the point the way she accepts all points -provisionally, pending the next filing. Her respect must be earned quarterly. It can also be lost that way.

The Conviction

Halvor

Reads it as: Absolute scarcity is a discovery. Volatility is the price of an asymmetric bet, and everything priced in fiat is melting slowly.
Sharp on: Fixed-supply mechanics, the debasement math, asymmetric payoffs, the cost of underestimating networks.
Blind to: Survivor bias on drawdowns. Regulatory and custody risk. Treating every counterargument as something you have not finished understanding yet.
Currently pulls against: Sound money, opposite Magnus. Asset classes, opposite Vera.

A systems engineer who found Bitcoin the year his savings account paid 0.1% - and asked no further questions for a decade. Halvor treats conviction as an engineering discipline: verify, hold, ignore. He did the debasement math once, carefully, the way an engineer checks a load calculation, and has never felt the need to redo it: money supply compounds, a fixed cap doesn't, and everything else is commentary.

He is cheerful about volatility the way sailors are cheerful about weather. Yes, it dropped forty percent. It does that. It's done that six times. He will point out that it is still here, which is more than he can say for the first three banks that held his salary.

His blind spot is the one every survivor has: he has only sailed in weather he came back from, and he sometimes treats every counterargument as a question the person hasn't finished understanding yet. Custody risk and regulators he acknowledges the way you acknowledge sharks — real, but not a reason to stay on land. Magnus disagrees with almost all of this. Halvor considers that evidence.

The Gold Keeper

Magnus

Reads it as: Real yields drive everything. Scarcity you can hold beats scarcity you must believe in, and “this time is different” carries the burden of proof.
Sharp on: Gold's survivorship, central-bank accumulation, the real-rates mechanism, how metal behaves in a liquidity crisis.
Blind to: Network effects, which he dismisses as fashion. The decades his patience missed. Why gold slept from 1980 to 2000.
Currently pulls against: Sound money, opposite Halvor. Safe havens, opposite Vera.

Magnus spent thirty years watching currencies die - from trading floors in three countries, through two crises he refuses to stop retelling. He came out the other side holding metal. Patient to the point of provocation, he measures everything in decades and trusts nothing that requires a promise to function.

Ask him about any asset and he will ask you one question back: what happens to it when the institution behind it stops existing? He has watched that question get answered the hard way more than once, and gold is the only thing on his desk that never had to answer it.

He has been told gold is dead four times in his career. He attended all the funerals. Poor attendance, he notes, from gold. His weakness, and the Floor makes sure he hears it, is that patience has a price: he will happily sit out a decade of gains to avoid one bad year, and he waves off network effects as fashion - the same word people used about the internet. On his desk sits a small silver coin, minted the year a bank he worked for disappeared. He'd tell you the story, but he says the coin tells it shorter.

The First Portfolio

Nina

Holds no line: She is the audience surrogate. Her charter is earned skepticism, and she is the only one allowed to change her mind on the page.
Blind to: Recency bias, app-generation impatience, vibes over filings. The others catch it, kindly.
Appears: Only when the topic is genuinely beginner-facing, and then she is threaded through the piece: back in at the pivot, back in at the verdict. Never a one-line cameo.

Nina is twenty-three, works in São Paulo, and opened her first brokerage account eleven months ago. She is the person every finance platform claims to serve and mostly talks past. She brings the questions experts forgot were hard - what actually happens to my money when I press this button, who is on the other side of this trade, why does everyone say "zoom out" like that settles something. She's twenty-three; if she zooms out any further, the chart starts before she was born. She would like a number, please, not a philosophy.

She has made small mistakes with real money, which is why her questions land where they do, and she is the only one on the Floor allowed to change her mind on the page - because she's the only one still forming it. She fact-checks influencers for sport, keeps a private list of predictions people made with total confidence, and has developed a healthy immunity to being condescended to, which several members of the Floor have tested and confirmed.

When the Floor argues, Nina asks the question you were thinking. When they finish, she asks the one they were avoiding.

Every point in there belongs to one of the eleven, and they never stop moving.
